The Raspberry Pi 4 is the fastest of all Pi. It brings new interfaces to the Pi family: The USB 3.0 port, and gigabit ethernet. Now, people won’t have to be constrained by the crappy USB 2.0 interface of the previous Raspberry Pi generations. The Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 is even better.

An open alternative to propriety libbcm_host.so everyone hates For the longest time I’ve hated on the propriety Raspberry Pi camera stack. It is propriety, it is non-standard, and it is propriety. It depends on the slow and niche Broadcomm GPU that everyone hates. Even more, only Raspberry Pi OS is supported, which means 32-bit operating system only.

For some reason, my Manjaro ARM install on the Raspberry Pi 4 is missing my 5GHz WiFi. It can scan some 5GHz networks, but not my home network. This never happened before on my Arch Linux install, and is very weird. I am aware that this is probably due to wireless country code being set up incorrectly.

So I was testing some code on my loyal Raspberry Pi 4, ver. 1.2. The Pi is directly connected to my router in another room. Cuz, like, Pi’s ethernet is so much more stable than its wireless. The downside is that every time the Pi had an issue, I had to run over to the other room to recover it.
